Denise found a baby bird and didn't know what to do. She discovered that there were actually wildlife rehabilitators who took care of injured an orphaned wildlife. She thought about it a long time then returned to the wildlife center that had taken in the baby bird, but this time she was there as a volunteer. After Denise saw her first baby squirrel and baby raccoon, she was hooked. That was 18 years ago and she has been helping animals ever since -- rabbits, squirrels, opossums, raccoons, skunk, beaver, bobcat, muskrat, deer, mink, bats, weasel, songbirds, raptors, woodpeckers and turtles. When she's not rehabilitating wildlife, Denise helps people with wildlife conflict resolution. They call her when they have a squirrel in the attic, raccoon in the chimney or a groundhog under the shed. Denise helps to evict wildlife from the spaces where people don't want them by convincing the animals to move out, and if they are mamas, they take the babies with them. Denise teaches people how important it is to keep wild families intact, and that as good as rehabilitators are at raising babies, they can never be as good as mom.
