A former Deputy Sheriff who had to retire after being seriously injured in an undercover sting operation, Diane has always loved animals. She assisted with wildlife babies after the Northwest Florida Sanctuary fire, then later moved to Citrus County where she purchased 5 acres of land in the deep, deep woods, with plans to volunteer as a wildlife rehabilitator. When Diane started with Nature World Wildlife Rescue in 2001, she intended to do it part time. She didn't realize she would end up taking in so many animals every year and putting in the hours that she now does. Somehow, it turned out to be a dream come true. Unfortunately Diane had to let her permits expire for a couple of years due to health issues, but she is now ready to get back it and is working under another rehabber until her permit renewals have been processed. She's thrilled to be able to help the baby opossums and other critters that are coming in with this Spring baby season.
