Janet has always loved animals. Taking care of them was something that was just natural for her. She started off helping feed and rescue animals that were on the streets, starving, freezing or injured. When DAWG rescue bought new property with a barn, the calls started coming in to help a baby raccoon or opossum because the mom was hit and killed. How could they turn away a baby? Janet now cares for squirrels, raccoons, opossums and rabbits. She and the other rehabbers put 100% of their hearts and souls into the babies, bottle feeding them every couple hours, helping them go to the bathroom. Janet says that it is hard work but worth every bit of it when the babies are released back into the wild where they belong.
