As a Biologist, Jennifer has long had a great appreciation for science, nature and animals. After finding an injured opossum with a pouch full of cold babies that had survived mom being hit by a car, Jennifer scooped the family up and took them home to warm them up. Jennifer searched for information but the babies did not live long enough to be transferred to a rehabilitator. She decided at that moment that she never wanted to be caught unprepared again. Jennifer researched, educated herself, gained knowledge from experienced rehabbers, collected supplies, then became a sub-permittee under another rehabber. Jennifer now cares for injured and orphaned opossums, squirrels, rabbits, rats and mice. Having an incubator with reliably accurate temperatures and humidity will give her babies the best chance at survival, especially since many of them started their little lives in such disastrous situations. Jennifer says that her wildlife rehabilitation journey has taught her so much about wildlife, humans, and especially herself.
