Linda retired from teaching after 38 years and after her first year she really felt "empty". She knew she needed to feel like she was doing something, making a difference. One evening her dogs chased an opossum who dropped two of her babies. Linda called her vet and was directed to Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary. As soon as Linda entered the facility, she knew what she had to do! She volunteered there for two years then started taking courses and apprenticed there for a year. In 2016 Linda received her state license and is now one of four volunteer licensed rehabbers that help the director operate the facility with over 60 other volunteers. Linda cares for squirrels (gray, red, flyers, chipmunks, groundhogs), raccoons, opossums, skunks, weasels, fox, deer, black bear, rabbits, mice, porcupines, and minks, just under 1000 each year. It's so wonderful for Linda, and the animals, that she has found her second calling.
