While singing in a choral group, Maria met a wildlife rehabber and asked if she could volunteer. She fell in love with an opossum who had been shot several times, and then when the baby squirrels started showing up, it was a done deal. Maria is now a registered rehabber caring for squirrels, opossums and rabbits. She still volunteers at Second Chance Wildlife but also brings many babies home where an incubator could really help her care for the fur babies.
