NWWR was initially started by two local veterinarians in Citrus County to care for non exotic wildlife. After Mary was introduced to the organization, she immediately knew it was her lot in life. She has now been the Director of NWWR for over 20 years now, caring for injured and orphaned Rabbits, Squirrels, Barred Owls, Pelicans, Red Should Hawks, Swallow-tailed Kites, Great Horned Owls, Raccoons, Night Herons, Eagles, Otters, Mississippi Kites, and Red Tailed Hawks. Mary has resided in Citrus County for over 40 years now and says that without the assistance from her community, she would not be where she is today with this organization. She's so grateful to be able to help wild animals who need a helping hand.
