Masayo K.

About five years ago hawks, falcons, owls, and vultures began to show up before Masayo. Raptors, high up in the sky in flight, meant freedom, vision, and messages to Masayo, and they still do. Since then, raptors, songbirds, crows, and other wild birds have reconnected her with the nature we are part of. She found Audubon Sharon when its Wildlife Rehabilitator and Outreach Specialist gave a wonderful Raptor education program at Greenwich Audubon. A month later, Masayo started volunteering at Sharon, driving 3 hours roundtrip -- an experience that has been worth every mile. Masayo enjoys every moment at Sharon, learning about wildlife and wildlife rehabilitation, and being able to do her part in helping injured and orphaned wildlife back to “Freedom”! Volunteering for about one and half years at Sharon, CT, has inspired her to become a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator in New York. Having been in the field of education, she also hopes to become a Wildlife/Raptor educator someday.
