14 years ago Nicki found a fawn laying beside its dead mother and she couldn’t find anyone who was qualified to help because there weren’t any wildlife rehabbers in central Wisconsin. Sadly the baby passed away but the sad encounter inspired Nicki to put her lifelong passon for animals to work and become a licensed state rehabber herself. Years later she now cares for chipmunks, 13-lined ground squirrels, gray squirrels, red squirrels, flying squirrels, cottontail rabbits and opossums. Like most volunteer home care rehabbers, funds are stretched to the limit with daily expenses of medicine, food and other rehabilitation supplies, so she is grateful for the opportunity to receive an incubator. Nicki rehabs under her organization Woodland Wildlife.
