Sherry's house was severely damaged by a tornado in 2011. The next day she found a baby robin on the ground that was also the victim of the tornado. Sherry tried to find a rehabber in her area but they were 2 hours away. She cared for the robin then safely delivered the baby to Chattanooga Zoo, and that led her to become an apprentice for Alix Parks. Sherry obtained her license and is now the only migratory songbird rehabilitator in her area. She also does emergency intake of small mammals and raptors until they can safely be transported to other rehabbers. Sherry views the time she dedicates to songbird rehabilitation as a service that God has called her to do.
