I have always had a passion for animals and I love being a part of their journey back to the wild. Over the past year, I've dedicated over 400 hours to hands-on training and volunteer work with the Ohio Wildlife Center and Crow's Hollow, learning everything from neonatal care to release protocols. Every moment has reinforced what I already knew in my heart - this is what I'm meant to do.
There's something incredibly moving about being there for an animal in its most vulnerable moments. When a baby raccoon comes in orphaned and barely clinging to life, or a squirrel kit arrives hypothermic and alone, I become their entire world. These animals don't choose to lose their mothers to car strikes or have their nests destroyed - they're innocent victims who deserve every possible chance at survival.
I'm currently sub-licensed under Crow's Hollow and have recently applied for my own rehabber license because I want to expand my capacity to help more animals. Right now, I sometimes have to turn away the most critical cases - neonates who desperately need round-the-clock temperature regulation - because I don't have an incubator. It breaks my heart every time, knowing I have the skills and dedication but not the equipment to save them.
An incubator would be life-changing for the animals in my care. These tiny, fragile babies need stable warmth to survive, and with proper equipment, I could save so many more lives. Wildlife rehabilitation is more than just a passion for me - it's a commitment to giving voiceless creatures the fierce advocacy and expert care they deserve.
