My love for animals began with my grandmother, who taught me to care for every living thing — even the ones others might overlook. I have always had a heart for the misunderstood and unloved creatures! Years later, I found an orphaned baby opossum on the side of the road, and with some research and a lot of determination, raised and released it myself under the instruction of a permitted rehabber. That experience opened my eyes to how many wild animals need help and how few resources exist for them. I began volunteering at a local wildlife rehab center and I saw the incredible impact trained rehabbers can have. That combination of early love, hands-on experience, and seeing the need firsthand is what inspired me to become a wildlife rehabilitator.
