When I was growing up, my mother raised orphaned songbirds, and I loved helping her throughout my childhood. Our family also always had many rescued pets, dogs, cats, ducks, and birds. Since both of my parents loved all types of animals, I, too, developed a deep love for them. When I became an adult, I responded to a call in 1985 for volunteers to raise orphaned baby squirrels for the Orlando Humane Society. After successfully raising and releasing several batches of squirrels, in 1988, I received my Florida permits in order to rescue many other species. I worked with a local rehabber to gain necessary experience, and I attended all classes offered by the International Wildlife Rehabilitation Association as well. My love for all wildlife has been a guiding force in my life, and I am priviledged to be able to save the lives of so many needing help.
