When I was a teenager I fostered kittens for my local manicuipal shelters and specialized in less “wanted” groups like medical needs, ringworm, and ferals. I had always heard about working with wildlife and that what I wanted to do so when I was 19 I went to school to become a veterinary technician and got a summer internship in a local wildlife rehab centers mammal nursery. That’s were I learned that I could get my own permit out of my house and that became my goal. While I worked towards that I joined a small wildlife rescue team to gain more hands on experience which I’ve worked with now for 3 years. And that’s how I discovered bats which is the animals I want to eventually specialize in when I get the required permits.
