I’ve always been drawn to animals and dreamed of becoming a wildlife rehabilitator, planning to start after nursing school—but life had other plans.
During my final semester, I found a mother opossum who had been hit by a car, her pouch still full of babies. I stopped, kept them warm, and connected with a local rehabber who guided me through my first rescue.
Those nine tiny 20g opossums became my first patients—and all of them survived and were released back into the wild. That moment turned my dream into a calling. Three years later, I welcomed my first apprentice and founded a nonprofit dedicated to educating and inspiring my community to care for local wildlife.
