The reason behind my love for animals and my drive to help them is honestly because of my dad. My dad and I were very close. When I was three years old, he gave me a one-eyed pet duck which set my love for animals in motion. My best memories with dad always involved animals. We were either talking about animals, looking at animal books, saving animals, bringing home every imaginable pet or my favorite - daydreaming about what it would be like to have an animal rescue. But, life takes you in many directions and it never came to fruition. It wasn't until I stumbled upon North Texas Wildlife Center (trying to save a duck) that I finally realized what was in my heart all this time. There was actually a place for me to not only help animals, but learn about them, too. I became a volunteer at the center, a sub-permittee to rehab babies at home and joined the transport team to help get animals in need to the center for care. I have only been with North Texas Wildlife Center for 10 months, but it is truly my passion to help save animals in any way that I can. I am so grateful for the opportunities NTXWC has provided for me and I hope by having an incubator at home, I can help even more babies and at-risk wildlife this year.
