I have been in the veterinary field for over 11 years, and have cared for domestic animals in some capacity since my early teens over 20 years ago, but I have always had a soft spot for the misunderstood wildlife many people see as nuisances, especially opossums. 3 1/2 years ago, I ran into an old friend while I was donating a Christmas tree to my local wildlife center, and she told me I should get involved. I began spending one night per week at Saco River Wildlife Center, and the rest is history! I have now passed the state testing required to become a sub-permittee of SRWC, which allows me to take some of the most delicate babies home for round-the-clock care, leaving more space available at the center for other patients in need.
