Diane has always had a passion for animals. When she was a child her neighbor’s dog was hit by a car and killed, leaving behind two newly born puppies. Diane and her mom offered to take those puppies and bottle feed them. They successfully raised them and placed them in good homes. The experience and the reward of helping those puppies stuck with her. In 2013, she learned of a home based wildlife rehab organization and she began to volunteer. Starting in the spring of 2014, Diane raised her first litter of orphaned raccoons. She helped them learn to be wild raccoons and prepared them for a late fall release. This experience was incredible, and was all it took to make her want to learn more and do more. She continued to take responsibility and to grow with the organization. Today she is one of two Directors and plays a major role doing intake, triage, and training. Diane says that it's one of the most rewarding roles and it’s a large part of who she is. She lives adjacent to a nature conservancy and spends a lot of time enjoying nature. We believes that the squirrels she sees in the trees just might be some of the squirrels that she worked hard to save and release. It warms her heart to know she has helped.
