I began volunteering in wildlife rehabilitation in June of 2024 after completing two seasons of collision surveys for window strike birds with the Texas Conservation Alliance. During each survey season there were many birds that did not survive window strikes, and the few that did were transported to our local wildlife rehabilitator in College Station, Texas. These collision surveys made me passionate about bird friendly design and started my journey as a volunteer in wildlife rehabilitation. I became subpermitted in November of 2024 and am now operating a satellite facility in Athens, Texas for the College Station rehabilitation center, Paws and Claws. There are no licensed wildlife rehabilitators in Henderson County and since opening Wrens & Friends as a satellite facility I have received many calls from finders and referrals from local veterinarians for wildlife.
