Hope K-D.

$475 of $475 raised

Hope's dad worked for PSE&G as a lineman. Back in the late 50s all the transformer boxes were made of wood. Squirrels would chew into the boxes, make a nest and have their babies, shorting out the box. When the men arrived they would chase off the mother and get rid of the babies. Hope's dad could not do that so he brought them home and they raised them. The other line men did not want the babies hurt either so they started bringing them back to the plant at night and gave them to Hope's dad. Her family always cared for the orphaned squirrels. The first were when Hope was only 5 years old. Hope's dad taught her the love and respect of Wild Things and it has never left her. In addition to being a wildlife rehabber, Hope is a Registered Nurse. During baby season she works 18 hour days, 7 days a week and also makes internships available for majors like Biology, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Zoo Keeping and Pre-Vet students. As of today, 18 students have gotten into Vet Schools in the US as well as overseas after interning under Hope's guidance. She feels that her job is to make sure that these students will see wildlife patients in their practices by giving them the love and respect of the Wild Things that her dad gave her. Let's get Hope the incubator she needs to care for the most fragile babies.
