My lifelong connection to animals runs deep, a bond of a large family home that often doubled as an impromptu sanctuary. Our "pets" were rarely just that; they were predominantly the lost, the forgotten, those that chose us from our local shelter, all arriving with their unique and often heartbreaking story of abandonment or hardship. These profound situations of once being lost or mistreated and transform into a cherished member of the family. Knowing they were safe, warm and loved, has become the best feeling of my existence. My dedication stems from the powerful impact of knowing even one life has been nurtured and protected. Even though the goal of caring and then to be released is often met by sorrow as not every effort made is met with survival, the enduring spirit and unconditional affection of these "fur babies" continually reaffirm my commitment, inspiring me to extend compassion to countless others.
