I became a wildlife rehabilitator because caring for animals has always been part of who I am. I originally started college pursuing marine biology, driven by a deep love for wildlife and the natural world, but my path changed when my mom was diagnosed with cancer and I chose to switch to nursing so I could help care for people in a more immediate way. Even as I built my career as a nurse practitioner, that passion for animals never left me. Wildlife rehabilitation has allowed me to bring those two parts of my life together—combining my medical knowledge with my lifelong love for animals to give injured and orphaned wildlife a second chance. Every tiny life I help reminds me why I started this journey in the first place.
