I have always had a passion for animals and loved doing anything that involved animals since I was a kid. I went to college at SUNY Binghamton to study Environmental Science on an ecosystems track, and quickly realized the only classes I fell in love with were the ones that were about animals. I’m from Rochester, NY so finding opportunities to get involved with wildlife is limited, but I did find an organization that I volunteered with for a few months during my senior year while I was home on breaks. My love for wildlife rehab flourished during this time, and I started looking into getting my license. I got licensed a few months before graduation, and when I moved back home, I started getting supplies, preparing for intakes, getting in contact with other local rehabbers, etc. The more animals I took in, the more I fell in love, and it’s something I want to make a career out of. I am only 21, turning 22 soon, so I have so much more to learn, but I’m glad I started as early as I did. This work has been extremely challenging these past few months but also very rewarding, and I wouldn’t change a thing. I can’t wait to grow and learn more as a rehabber.
