How will this additional incubator help?
In my role as a wildlife rehabilitator working with small mammals such as foxes, raccoons, squirrels, mice, woodchucks, porcupines, opossums, and cottontails, an incubator is a critical piece of equipment. Many of these animals arrive as neonates or juveniles that are orphaned, injured, or compromised and are unable to regulate their own body temperature.
An incubator provides a controlled environment with consistent warmth and appropriate humidity, which is essential for preventing hypothermia, dehydration, and stress. For neonatal mammals in particular, maintaining stable conditions directly impacts digestion, immune function, and overall survival. Species such as squirrels, opossums, rabbits, and mice are especially vulnerable in their early stages and benefit greatly from precise temperature control.
This incubator will allow for safer, more effective monitoring and recovery, reducing the need for frequent handling and minimizing stress. This will support better outcomes, improve survival rates, and helps ensure that these animals can be successfully rehabilitated and eventually released back into their natural habitats.
