How has your first Baby Warm incubator helped you?
The first Baby Warm incubator we received, several months ago, has since been used for orphaned mammals that have come into care. We recently received a very late batch of Eastern Fox Squirrel orphans that have been using the incubator! Now that temperatures are much colder the incubator is helping to ensure that they are able to maintain a stable temperature.
How will this additional incubator help?
The additional incubator will help when transporting orphans to and from rehabber homes after we leave the rehabilitation center. Several of our staff work at least an hour away from the center, so this will ensure that orphans do not lose any heat during transport. Currently, this will help the orphaned squirrels that we have in care as they are still neonates and even just running them to a already warmed car causes some body heat to be lost due to the freezing temperatures outside. We currently move them back and forth in the larger incubators but that is not only cumbersome but as it can not be plugged into a vehicle, only does so much to keep heat in.
