I became a Wildlife Rehabilitator because I was born with a passion to care for wild animals. As a little girl, I would create maps of my neighborhood and the nests that existed on porches or trees, and if I could see eggs or hear babies, I’d note that—never touching or disturbing the nest but always monitoring their precious little lives. It was not just a love for them, but a genuine desire to understand them and their ways. As I grew up, my college studies led me into human service, but once I connected the dots between animals and human service, I was led to the field of Wildlife Rehabilitation. Here, I am able to not only care for animals but also provide a safe and welcoming place for people to go when they find an animal in need and have urgent questions. My experience has shown me that an incubator isn’t going to save ALL the animals, but it is a tool that will greatly help me provide more advanced care to the sickest of animals and the tiniest of neonates that really need that consistent environment to thrive.
