I knew for quite some time that I had a special interest in helping wildlife. I began my work as a volunteer, securing and transporting animals in need of care to a rehabilitation facility. From there I was able to learn some basics in caring for wildlife as I met other volunteers and becAme familiar with individual rehabilitators. A few of them took me under their wing, teaching me skills and laying a foundation to increase my confidence and ability to care for the animals. I knew that I wanted hold my own license so that I could care for animals independently, so I continued on to take classes, prepare a space in my home specifically for the care of wildlife, and obtained my rehabilitation permit.
