I started helping out and lending my expertise with raptors with another organization, and was able to get experience in all small mammals, birds of prey. I enjoy all things animals and have always loved helping them. I obtained my certification in raptor handling and husbandry in 2020 and started working with Hog Capitol in spring of 2022, where I was able to put my handling and husbandry knowledge to use. When I was a young girl my mother raised baby raccoons every year and I would help her, and since then I’ve been a bleeding heart for animals. I am also a photographer and have spent a lot of time learning about different animals that I have taken pictures of wild since 2016. So I guess it was a mixture of photography and my love of animals since I was a child that got me into it. In my work life, I work as an emergency room nurse and have applied my skills from healthcare into rehab as well, which I find really helpful.
