I got into rehabbing because of a lifelong love of animals, starting with a variety of pets when I was young (mice, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, fish , snakes and other domestic pets). My parents took us camping and I gained knowledge and affection for wild animals we were exposed to in our travels. In the area where I live, there are often festivals honoring local wildlife and at one of these festivals, there was a booth from a local wildlife rescue organization. I spoke with then and was delighted to learn that I could volunteer rescuing, rehabbing and releasing a variety of Florida wildlife. I have been lucky to have the opportunity to not only learn about our wildlife, but also to release them after caring for them.
