Theresa comes from a long line of women who rescue animals in need. One day, she was walking home from school and heard an animal crying out. When she located the sound of the cries, it was a baby squirrel! Theresa and her mom cared for the baby and raised it. A couple years went by and someone contacted them with a pair of orphaned baby raccoons. After helping them, Theresa was hooked. She and her mom bonded over rehabbing roughly 120 raccoons over the course of a decade, and the occasional litter of squirrels. Theresa eventually moved out and had her own family, and has finally resumed her passion again. For the past three years she has been rescuing mostly squirrels with the occasional raccoon and groundhog. Her daughter is now following in her footsteps. Theresa's hoping it will help them bond like she did with her mother while rehabbing.
